Autumn Update 2025

Autumn. Fall. That time when the temperature goes through swings from “I should turn on the air conditioning” to “I should turn on the heater” within the span of 2 days. And that was just this week alone!

As happens every year, Thanksgiving is upon us Yes, here in Canada we celebrate it while we don’t (usually) have to wear our winter coats. Time for turkey, potatoes, stuffing, and everyone’s favourite – pumpkin pie. That amazing dessert that for some reason only seems popular when the leaves change colour. I am still solidly in the camp of calling the particular spice mix that everyone goes nuts for “Apple Pie Spice”, but if you want to call it “Pumpkin Spice” go right ahead!

While we’ve been trying to get all of our sauces made, orders filled, things shipped (harder than you may think lately), the creative bug has been simmering a pot on the back burner. And as such things go, it had to be actually made. Test Batch 101: Panda Pumpkinhead is now ready. But we went that one step beyond. taking pure pumpkin, mixing in the coveted spice mix, adding a large amount of scotch bonnet peppers and some porter beer, this sauce is a new experience. It’s essentially liquid (rather) spicy pumpkin pie in a bottle.

And now that that creative bug has been taken care of, a few housekeeping things for everyone:

1. The last of the orders in the system should be cooked and shipped in the next week or so.
2. Shipping is solved – for now. Canada Post being on strike has put dampers on getting things out easily but come hell or high water we’re going to get it out. Just please bare with us.
3. Dark Bunny will be at the Lucky Dog Social (https://www.kurenji.com/luckydog) on November 8^th in Montreal with a limited selection on the table. If you’re in the area, you should come! We're even going to be bringing back an old recipe for a limited run, as well as making something a little dangerous just for the occasion!
